Weekend Adventures

Yesterday I worked till one and then met some friends to see the documentary 'Amy', which is about Amy Winehouse at Luna SX in Fremantle. I like Amy Winehouse's music but I didn't really know much about her so it was really interesting to learn about her life. Some parts of the movie were very sad and confronting, but I personally found the documentary really well made and very eye-opening about Amy's battles with bulimia, alcohol and drugs. If you like documentaries and want to learn more about Amy Winehouse, or if you like to learn about the effects drugs and alcohol can have on people I recommend seeing it. It is also currently showing at Luna in Leederville.

After we saw the film, we went and got coffee and cheesecake at Exquise in Fremantle. It had great reviews so we decided to check it out, It is kind of hidden away in Fremantle, just off South Terrace near the fairy shop. I ordered New York cheesecake, I am the biggest cheesecake fan and definitely prefer it to normal cake because of how creamy and light it is.

I stayed in Saturday night as I am poor and pining for pay day and watched New Girl on Netflix. On Sunday morning I went to meet my friend at Jacobs Ladder to do some exercise. It was death. I am trying to get back into shape after having some time off exercise earlier this year. After Jacobs Ladder I went for a coastal walk. It was really nice to enjoy some sunshine after it being so rainy these past couple of days and great to get my body moving.

July Favourites

Since July is now over, I thought it would be fun to let you know what my favourite products, places and things were in July. Lets start!

Naked Palette 3

I have owned the Naked Palette 3 for nearly a year now, after purchasing it in Sephora last year. I also own the Naked Palette 2 which I love. The only eyeshadows I now use are from either palette. I used to own lots of MAC individual pots of eyeshadows but my Naked Palettes have replaced them all. What I love about the Naked Palettes is how easy they are to pack when your travelling, and how you can create both day and night looks with a single palette. The Naked Palette 3 is more of a pink based palette, it has lots of pink tones, browns and plums with both matte and glittery colours.  If you're in Australia you can purchase the Naked Palettes from Mecca.

Boxing

I have been pretty lazy with exercise this year and it was starting to show. I hurt my ankle twice at the start of the year so I was unable to exercise till May when I started running again. I stopped running after my exams but after around six weeks off I convinced my friend to come boxing with me. I love boxing because its such a high intensity workout where you develop strength, coordination as well as building your cardiovascular fitness. I find it a lot of fun and better than the gym or other workout e-books I have tried. I previously boxed a few years ago and I was in the best shape of my life after a few months.

Denim Jacket

I have been looking for months for the perfect denim jacket and I finally found it on ASOS. The one i bought is New Look and it only cost $40.00. It is the perfect classic cut and colour and it fits really well.

ASOS Ridley Ankle Crop Jeans

I absolutely love these jeans! I have been recommending them to everyone I know. My sister and friend also bought them, we all have different body shapes and they fit everyone soooo well! I love them so much I bought these in the clean black and in the cherry blue.  What I love about these jeans is the high waisted pulls your stomach in so you don't get the dreaded muffin top, and the ankle grazing length makes them perfect to wear with sneakers or flats. They are also perfect for those of you who aren't super tall. I'm 5'4-5'5 and I got them in the 32'' length ankle grazer style and they are the perfect fit for me. If you are more towards 5'3-5'4 I would recommend getting the 30'' length. Bottom line: get the normal length you would get for full length jeans DO NOT SIZE DOWN OR THEY WILL BE TOO SHORT.  These jeans are a stretch fit, which I normally don't like as I prefer my jeans to pull me in but they are very flattering (especially around the stomach) and extremely comfortable.

Today Was an Alright Day

Today was Sunday. I went to Sayers Sister in Northbridge for brunch and to catch up with my friend who has returned to Perth for a holiday before she moves to Luxembourg after living in London for two years and two other close friends. Brunch is always a good idea, and I really liked Sayers Sister. I haven't been to either Sayers or Sayers Sister before, but I have heard great things so I was excited to try eat.

I ordered the Bean tagine which was delicious. I have been a fan of tagine's  ever since living in Vancouver where I used to go to a great Mediterranean restaurant called Medina. Their tagine was phenomenal!  The one I had today was different to the tagine I have previously eaten at Medina as it was less spicy and of course was bean based instead of tomato based. Personally, I prefer more spice. I like it with a bit of a kick!

After having brunch and catching up for a few hours three of us decided to go into the city and have a bit of a browse in the shops. We checked out the new furniture shops on Hay street; Pottery Barn and West Elm. I have previously been in these stores in Vancouver but I really liked the ones in Perth. I wanted to buy everything! I really love homewares and can't wait to buy my own apartment to furnish. What I love about these two stores is the mixture of classic and modern pieces. I normally am more of a fan of classic furniture (white wood, french style etc) but I love the clunkiness of some of the wood pieces, or a classic sofa with wooden legs for a modern finish.  Both stores are fairly expensive (more expensive than IKEA or Freedom) but I find the pieces tend to look to be of higher quality.

After that we went and looked in Mecca for cosmetics. I didn't buy anything as I have already spent a lot of my pay but I did look at Sigma eyeliner which has been recommended to me, and some NARS products. I really like NARS for cosmetics. I already have used their Laguna bronzer, Orgasm Blush, and Olympia contour blush but I really want to buy their Illuminator.  I tried their illuminator in Copoacabana and I found a little really went a long way. It also lasted all day on my skin which is a huge plus. I really have been meaning to invest in a liquid illuminator as I prefer a dewy makeup finish and find it catches more light than a highlight powder.

After shopping I went home and cleaned my room. I'm not quite done yet but I am hoping to finish it properly (surfaces wiped etc).
